For the actual EEG procedure on Monday morning, Philip did incredibly well. They wanted him to sleep for a portion of it and we were worried about that. Philip has been known to stay awake against all odds for hours and hours. He had to stay up on Sunday night until 11 and wake up on Monday morning at 4 but once again, that doesn't necessarily mean anything for Philip. However, he did great. He didn't like getting the EEG leads on and that essentially was the straw that broke the camel's back. As soon as the tech stopped messing with his head, he feel asleep fairly quickly. They got the info they needed and the appointment was over actually much quicker than we thought.
Tuesday's appointment with our PCP went well and the equipment process should be really clicking along now. Soon, we'll have a new adaptive stroller, bath seat, and special needs car seat for Philip. It couldn't come at a better time, too. Ethan turned 1 last Friday and is growing out of his car seat. We need Philip's current seat for Joyanna and Joyanna's seat for Ethan. The Lord has worked that out in great timing. Philip did his fasting again on Tuesday and it went well once again. I am thankful not to repeat his response on Friday. He was very alert on Tuesday evening and even did some "wrestling" with Uncle Drew.
Because he responded well on Tuesday, Wednesday was a great day as well. His therapists were pleased with his sessions.
Thursday he had his appointment with his epileptologist. She had read the report with results from his EEG but decided during our appointment that she needed to look at the EEG reading itself. He is still having focal (or regional) seizures and generalized (both sides of the brain) seizures. She couldn't tell without reading the EEG whether the seizure activity is better since being on the diet. We won't make any changes at this point to diet or medications.
Friday was a less busy day and we had some good friends over for supper. They were able to make it despite the snowy weather. (side note: Now I know some of you up north will read this and laugh because our snowy weather pales in comparison to yours but this is Oklahoma and by and large, we don't have as many resources as you to make the difference in travel.) Philip did do another fasting session and responded well again. We tried to communicate well so he wouldn't have to deal with the dehydration. Hopefully, good responses twice a week will string together to make a little progress. Please pray together with us for that.
Thanks for praying for us this week.
Here's the song that came to mind today:
My God is so BIG, so STRONG, and so MIGHTY.
There's nothing my God cannot do...
