Within the time that I have not written, OKC public schools made the call to cancel in-person school again. Built into their contingency plan, if the OKC metro went into Orange Level Alert for Covid-19, then decisions would be made to cancel. Since that time, they have revisited that plan and have decided to move that decision to when Red Level Alert is reached. They established Monday (10-19) as the day for special needs kids to return to school in-person. So, Joy would have been able to return to school on Monday, but since we were not in town, we chose for her to stay home. She returned to school yesterday, riding the bus and meeting with her friends and teachers in the classroom. Of course, every time we have made this change for Joy, she needs about two weeks to get used to the new schedule. We had almost reached her adjustment time when they cancelled school this past time but I realize during this time, there is nothing they can do but evaluate each decision as it comes. We are definitely just taking each day at a time. Thankfully, Joy seems to have maintained and maybe progressed in other areas besides the one she was progressing in before. We’re not sure where the end of the pandemic will put us, but it seems to have little affect on her as a whole right now, other than sleep schedules! She still is eager to walk every time she gets the chance. We are thankful for that. We are once again having some trouble with her passing out in the gait trainer so we will probably have to give some concerted effort with her doctor to figuring out this issue. Please pray with us once again for that.
We hope to spend Thanksgiving here in OKC with my sister and her family but my parents are considering joining us for Thanksgiving since they might be in the area during that time. We also hope to travel to Kentucky for Christmas this year and spend that holiday with all my siblings and their families at my parents’ house. It’s amazing to think that the holidays are upon us. Many will have to figure out different plans for the holidays this year because of Covid-19. I pray it is still a blessed time though it may not be what it always is. All of us are getting a course in being flexible and staying open-minded as far as our plans go. It’s good for us to find the positive in the situation we find ourselves in.
Thanks for your prayers for our family, especially during these uncertain times. May God bless you for the love you continually show us through your prayers.
