So, our plans for respite time are forming since Joy will be taken care of. We will travel to two weddings while Joy is in TCC—one in Kansas, one in Missouri. Also, we had planned not to take an actual vacation but the Lord has other plans. Someone from our church wanted to use airline points to fly us anywhere in the US we wanted to go. So, Ben, Ethan and I will travel to Oregon for a vacation in late June. I don’t feel taxed taking care of Joyanna; she’s easy to care for, but a respite time is greatly appreciated. Mostly I have found resting my brain is the best take-away. I’m not constantly thinking about medicine times, feeding times, diaper changes, standing, gait trainer, bath, braces, switches, entertainment, etc. However, when Joy is at TCC, it changes our schedule too. I try to get there every day to see her when I’m in town so our daily routine changes to accommodate that. We may have to flex that a little this year because in prior years, Ethan goes with me every day. There is a great possibility that he will not even be able to enter the units or rooms. When TCC is on flu/RSV precautions, no one under 12 is allowed in so it is very likely that these precautions will be in place because of COVID. We’ll see when she moves in.
Joy is sleeping during her infusion today though she fought it for a long time. The medicine, her feeding, the infusion were all making her sleepy and she was very interested in continuing to watch Little Bear. She was frustrated that her eyes were closing and she couldn’t help it. It was almost comical. But she couldn’t hold out forever. So she is resting now.
Our pastor preached a few weeks ago, reminding us that although we want things to return to normal after this COVID situation, we don’t want our hearts to return to apathy and hardness. We don’t want our country to return to godlessness and corruption. We can’t control the hearts of our fellow citizens but we can submit to the Lord in our own hearts, be a light in this dark world, and pray, pray, pray for revival in our land.
Thanks for your prayers for us! I pray God blesses you as only He can.
Lord, Send a Revival
By BB McKinney
Send a revival, O, Christ my Lord.
Let it go over the land and sea.
Send it according to Thy dear Word,
And let it begin in me.
Chorus:
Lord send a revival.
Lord send a revival.
Lord send a revival,
And let it begin in me.
Send a revival among Thine own.
Help us to turn from our sins away.
Let us get nearer the Father's throne.
Revive us again we pray.
Send a revival to those in sin.
Help them, O Jesus, to turn to Thee.
Let them the new life in Thee begin.
Oh give them the victory.
Send a revival in every heart.
Draw the world nearer, O Lord, to Thee.
Let Thy salvation true joy impart.
And let it begin in me.
