Over the weekend, Philip had 3 really good days in a row. Praise the Lord! He was so happy. We did find out that if, when he has a meltdown, we put him in the computer chair and spin him, he immediately starts laughing. It has worked every time so far. It shouldn't surprise us since when he could move, he was always spinning and mostly when he was over-stimulated. Now, his only recourse when he is over-stimulated is to cry and scream. At least, that's my best guess. We are always happy to find ways to calm him down. Joyanna, of course, wants to spin in the chair, too, but she doesn't have the capacity to handle the spinning like Philip. She gets so dizzy! :)
Since the weekend, we haven't had any bad days. They have been good days with a few meltdowns here and there, mostly when he is going to bed. I think that may just be the way he has to wind down to go to sleep. We did make the decision to put him back in the crib for nighttime sleep. That was a hard decision, putting your 4-year-old back in a crib. Almost everyday, he was trying to get out of bed in the early morning hours and hurting himself in some way. Since he can't wear his helmet to bed, that seemed to be the safest decision. He can't get out of it thankfully. We moved Ethan to the pack and play. Hopefully, that will only be temporary.
He only has 2 days of school left. I think he will miss the classroom experience. It has been good for him, and he has always enjoyed being around other people, especially little people. Last week, I attended the Pre-K awards program at his school. All the students in his class got a special award. Philip got the "Hard Worker" award. He does have to work hard to do most things. He keeps working though and I think that will help him tremendously. If we can get the seizures under control via the diet, I think he will make leaps and bounds in his progress over the next year. At least, that is what I am praying for. I know you are, too. Thank you again.
Specific prayer requests for now:
1. The Keto Diet to be scheduled.
2. For Philip to progress and not lose skills
3. For grace and strength for all of our family
4. For wisdom for Ben and I to make the best decisions for Philip, being sensitive to the Lord's leadership
