He is on the surgery schedule for 2pm today but the neurosurgeon's assistant said realistically it will probably be 3 before they come for him. She said generally for this surgery there will be about a 5 day hospital stay afterwards, but it could be anywhere from 3-5 days.
That couple of days should give time for hematology to work with him on his blood content levels and with speech pathology to work with his eating and drinking, which he was having some trouble with after getting the flu. Hopefully the eating and drinking issues have resolved by recovering from the flu and not as much pressure in the head, but if he is still having trouble, they will want to work with him on that before sending him home. He has not had any food or drink through his mouth since last Saturday so we won't know if he is having trouble until they clear him to eat again after his surgery.
In the meantime he is certainly starting to feel better from the flu, be awake more and is showing interest in playing.
