He will have the CT scan tomorrow to check on the draining process and to see if his brain is shifting back to its normal alignment. Between now and then, we hope to see a speech pathologist and work out a long term solution to medications for seizures and blood clotting issues. His epileptologist is hoping to stop by this afternoon after her clinic appointments slow down and we are looking forward to seeing her to discuss manageable options for medicine.
Not much has changed for this morning except that fluid has been draining and that's a change we want. Philip's neurosurgeon stopped by this morning and let Ben know that Philip does need to stay lying down. It will help the draining process. He hasn't been too upset about that. We got a portable DVD player from the Childlife department (they provide toys and books, etc) and set it up so he could watch a few of his favorite DVD's. I can get beside him too and read to him so we brought some of his favorite books from home and have read some of the ones available here. Philip is feeling much better so he is very excited when we get out his favorite books and DVD's. He has some issues with modulation of responses (connected with autism), meaning his actions are most of the time over the top, full tilt. So, now that he feels better, when I come down the hall in the morning, I turn the corner from the elevator and I can hear him in his room all the way down the hall. I'm sure his neighbors love that! :) We are glad because it means he is feeling better although overall we are trying to work with him on toning it down. For him, that might be a lifelong process! :)
