I helped him move to the floor in the play area to play with toys this morning. We are trying to give him walking practice as much as he is able. He sat and played pretty well. He lost his balance sitting up a few times but I decided this morning to watch him closely and let him try to sit himself back up. Sure enough, he did pretty well. He had to work hard at it but that will be the only way he will build those muscles back up or reteach his brain how to do it. It's a little hard to see your 4-year-old struggle like a 6-month-old to sit up but the Lord still has given His grace and we know that is part of the process. We are thankful for any forward progress.
I can definitely say "thank you" for praying specifically. Philip made amazing progress yesterday with drinking. By the end of the evening, he was picking up his own cup, getting it to his mouth and drinking by himself. I almost couldn't believe it. The day before, when we held his cup to his mouth, he couldn't really even move his lips. That's an answer to prayer. I wanted to share yesterday but my internet connection was not cooperating. Today, he is a little more shaky so is having trouble lifting his cup with his hand and getting it into his mouth. However, he doesn't seem to be actually having much trouble drinking from it. Hopefully, we can keep up the progress with that and not have any worries about dehydration. We are not sure why the shakiness or tremors. He is having them in his hands and head. It could just be from sheer muscle weakness or as a side effect of medicines. We hope that resolves as well in the next couple of weeks. Still no tonic seizures. I've seen maybe two or three of the smaller atonic (drop attack) seizures this morning.
