I've already decided on his breakfast and lunch meals for tomorrow. Then, it's a big shopping trip to make sure we have all the best brands and correct products. We bought some things from Amazon tonight--things we can only order online. We are trying to choose products that are completely safe, without even trace carbs because we know he seems to be sensitive. We know we need to get him into that high ketone level to see any improvement so that is our goal for this week. I feel so much better administering the diet myself. I know exactly what is going from prep to his mouth. I'm sure the kitchen at the hospital cafeteria was doing their best but with the issues we were having, I like to know exactly what I'm giving him and what is in it.
He'll go in to have blood drawn here in OKC at OU Children's tomorrow morning. Like I said, they'll closely monitor him. He is already on the buffer medicine to stop the acid from rising so we don't have to worry about that but they'll keep track just in case. Then, we'll see Dr. Herren here on Wednesday. We hope to meet the dietician here at that appointment as well. Another goal is to keep him hydrated. He seems to do much better with that in the evening for whatever reason. Last night and tonight, he just gulped down several ounces of water in one sitting.
Just pray he gets into strong ketosis in the next few days. If we can achieve that and maintain it for several days, then we hope to see improvement with his seizures. Pray for me that I can wrap my brain around this change now and plan accordingly. Now, I'm so glad the dietician planned out 30 meals that I can just follow
