After outside temperatures began to rise at the end of February, school could open again. Joy returned to school two weeks ago. She has done great this time around. During the last “break”, there were even days that she woke up on her own a little earlier than usual with no school. That was helpful. She was able to transition back into school routine a little easier this time, or maybe her body is getting used to the two weeks on and two weeks off routine. That’s good because next week is Spring Break—off of school again! It is only one week this year when it is usually two weeks. We are trying to use the time wisely and she is having her bone infusion T, W, Th of next week to avoid her missing any more school.
Today she had an EKG done as a requirement of the insurance for her infusion. We’ll see if any more needs arise to continue on with the insurance approval. She was very sleepy this morning and I thought she would fall asleep earlier than usual but she woke up enough to watch Little Bear and is holding out now to continue listening/watching. We are just now getting some long blinks! I’m sure she’ll give up eventually and get a nap in.
We’ve continued to tweak the fit on her TLSO but I’m not sure how that’s going really. It doesn’t seem to be quite right. I should probably embrace the fact that we may never get it perfect but it is helping her to not continue to bend her spine too drastically.
We’re thankful COVID numbers continue to drop here in Oklahoma; it seems the crisis is coming to a close. It is unknown when a pediatric vaccine will be available but I do know that it is in clinical trial right now.
This coming weekend I travel to Kentucky to speak at a ladies’ retreat about an hour from my hometown. I am excited and nervous at the same time. The Lord has certainly given direction about what He wants me to speak about so I know, if I let Him work through me, they will hear what He wants them to hear. I just get nervous that I’ll get in the way! And I get nervous to fly alone; I’ve done it several times before and know I’ll be okay but my stomach gets a little queasy anyway. It’s not the flying that bothers me; I actually love flying. It’s gates and connections and terminals, etc.; thankfully, I have long enough layovers to not be too stressed. Part of this trip means I get to be at my home church on Sunday morning, the end of their Missions Conference. I haven’t been at my home church’s mission conference for over 20 years. What a treat!
Next week, along with Joy’s bone infusion, the college my husband works at hosts their College Days which he has a significant part in coordinating. It will be a busy week. Then, thankfully, is the college's spring break and that will conclude March. It is full of good things but very busy. Pray we focus on the work of the Lord in each of these things and not just the schedule of the things themselves.
Our daffodils are blooming here! The weather has been fabulous! Spring is so refreshing! At the end of this month, we will get the garden ready and begin planting.
God made this promise to Noah after the flood:
While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease. Genesis 8:22
We get to see the manifestation of this promise as each season changes into the next. There are other promises that God has made and it would seem the time of their fulfillment is drawing closer. Eventually this earth won’t remain. May we be faithful and steadfast until He returns. Even so, Come, Lord Jesus!
Here is an excerpt from Great is Thy Faithfulness
Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.
Great is Thy Faithfulness!
Great is Thy Faithfulness!
Morning by morning, new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided.
Great is Thy Faithfulness, Lord, unto me!
