On Monday, Joyanna, Ethan and I were in the backyard. The weather is so nice here that you can’t help but go outdoors. Joyanna’s helmet is not in yet and I had decided not to put Philip’s on her since she has been doing better lately. She was doing well playing and walking around in the yard. I had moved to the back of the yard to pick some lingering tomatoes in our garden when I heard her cry. She was sitting on our porch swing when I had looked last but she had tried to climb up on it farther and fallen onto the concrete patio. She had the biggest bump on her forehead I have ever seen and some scrapes on her face. I immediately took her in to put ice on it. Ben came home for lunch not long after that and we alternated putting ice on it for quite a while. Philip had these before and Joyanna one or two so we moved on from there. But on Tuesday morning when I got her from her bed, it looked as if the swelling had continued. We decided to take her to the ER to have it checked. Actually, it hadn’t swollen more but that fluid from the original spot had moved down around her eyes and nose because of gravity, making it look like other parts of her face had swollen. She stayed puffy for a couple of days and now is various colors of healing bruises. The scrapes are almost completely healed. It looks so much worse than it actually was so we’ve learned something new yet again. She doesn’t seem to care and really hasn’t since right after it happened but she looks like she was in a big fight or learned how to put eyeshadow on in the '80s. Ha Ha!
The red tape has to do with Philip’s medicine. We switched him to dosing three times a day but we didn’t know all the requirements the public school would have with medicines so we are having trouble getting that all situated. He has been home the last couple of days while we get it sorted out. We just don’t want him to miss his afternoon dose of medicine and haven’t worked through with pharmacy, doctors, school office to get that completely settled. It’s a shame that all of the red tape is needed but in our day and time, medicines are so misused. There has to be lots of checks and balances in a public setting. We realize that and hope we can get it all sorted out soon and he can get back to school.
To end on a positive note, the normal in our house is now lots of room in the bathroom and that has already been so much easier on Philip, Joyanna and my back! I can get right next to the tub. I can warm up the bathroom to make Philip comfortable and change him inside on the bench we have sitting there temporarily. Ben is building a changing table that will accommodate my height and Philip’s size. It will probably be done next week. It is such a huge blessing!
You’re praying. We know that. It is so interesting how the Lord just lets us know somehow in our Spirit that people are praying for us. Thank you!
This song has been in my mind and on my heart this week. I just learned it recently and the last 4 lines of the song have encouraged me in such a real way!
The Perfect Wisdom by Keith and Kristyn Getty
The perfect wisdom of our God,
Revealed in all the universe:
All things created by His hand,
And held together at His command.
He knows the mysteries of the seas,
The secrets of the stars are His;
He guides the planets on their way,
And turns the earth through another day.
The matchless wisdom of His ways,
That mark the path of righteousness;
His word a lamp unto my feet,
His Spirit teaching and guiding me.
And oh, the mystery of the cross,
That God should suffer for the lost
So that the fool might shame the wise,
And all the glory might go to Christ!
Oh grant me wisdom from above,
To pray for peace and cling to love,
And teach me humbly to receive
The sun and rain of Your sovereignty.
Each strand of sorrow has a place
Within this tapestry of grace;
So through the trials I choose to say:
“Your perfect will in your perfect way.”
